Creating a Web Portfolio
I've come across a few impressive and non-lame looking portfolio template/creation sites lately. So with the economy in the can, I thought it might be a good time to present a run-down of the best web portfolio apps out there. These are all free, and from the ones I've played around with, easy to use
This is probably the best portfolio option I've seen out there. Simple, LHS menu style. Lots of customisation possible. Many working examples.
This is simple and pretty easy to use. But you'll have to keep the carbonmade logo on your site.
Indexr is a pretty sweet looking option. There's a version available where it will automatically create your portfolio based on any different media types sitting on your server. So movies, images, etc, all get pulled into the portfolio automagically. Worked a little slow on my setup.
Flickr Folio pulls images from your flickr set automatically and presents it in portfolio format. This is in development. But from the screenshots, looks clean.
This also pulls images from your Flickr set automatically, and doesn't even need setting up. Just add your flickr username to the end of the URL and you have a nice pared back interface for browsing your images.
This is in beta mode. So you'll need to email the Cargo people for an invite. But from the examples, seems pretty tight.
Enjoy.
